Glowing cats
Glowing cats I put in a stroker ls3 about 100 miles ago and I'm running a safe base tune. (Mamo heads, comp cam, ported FAST w a LS2 TB, deka 60lb injectors, 58psi ext FPR, kooks headers, magnaflow catback) Fuel trims are ok and I'm not getting any CELs other than a p0106. I clamped on new magnaflow cats & drove to the muffler shop to get everything welded up and they tell me the right cat was glowing red. I know the most common cause is excess fuel and/or the engine missing but hptuners a telling me neither is the case. Any ideas? (I looked to see if the cats had any IN/OUT direction on them and they didn't...)
You sure fuel trims are OK. It's hard to make cats glow with OK fuel trims. and if you were driving to get everything welded up you must have had a lot of exhaust leaks. I usually don't see OK fuel trims with exhaust leaks.
I'm going to go data logging again in a while and see what's what. It may be that I had good fuel trims w/o cats when I logged the last time, put the cats on last night, had exhaust leaks and unlogged, sh*tty trims driving to the muffler shop and now the exhaust leaks are fixed. (I drove home and looked under the car and didn't see them glowing.)
