Installing OEM crank pulley, need some advice

You don't need a bearing, just a couple nice washers and some heavy grease.

i ordered the proform. seemed to be the best tool for the job. i didn't mind paying a little extra for a quality product. i'll offer it up here as a loaner when im done with it.

I been reading several posts on how to install the crank pully bolt and they all seem to follow the same steps:
1. align the pully
2. use the old bolt and torque to 240ftlb
3. remove old bolt, use new bolt and torque to 34ftlb + 140 degrees.

I don't have/cant find my old bolt, can I just use a similar tool to get it on, and then do the new bolt? I found this video from summit and they dont seem to use the "old bolt" method

Here's what I do on all my LS engines: Get rid of that factory TTY bolt and spend the $35 for an ARP bolt. It has a simple torque spec and you're good to go. If you use the correct installer, however, you should be fine not using an old bolt first. I will caution you against one thing - do NOT use the new bolt to pull the balancer on, it will pull the threads out of the crank.

I did consider going with the ARP but decided not to because I do not plan on taking the bolt out again. If I ever do, I will upgrade it to the ARP bolt. This is the tool that I got off Amazon, image below. I’m just paranoid about doing it wrong xD. I keep reading other threads where the bolt came out because it wasn’t don’t properly.

Yeah, that installer will work. I bought one with a bearing so it's silky smooth going on, but as others have said, just grease it well and you'll be fine.

You will know when it's seated because once it hits the timing gear, it will become much, MUCH more difficult to turn. Looks good from what I can see.
