Also, VVT was not an option until 2010 mid year model year trucks with the 5.3. It does have AFM/DOD, all 5.3's from 2007.5 to current use AFM/DOD in Silverados. The engine is an LC9
Gen 4 engines, all use aluminum heads.
The LC9 is a flex fuel, aluminum block, AFM/DOD and started production mid year 2007 and used in 4WD truck only. Same as LH6, just with flex fuel.
The LMG is a flex fuel iron Block, Same as LY5, just with flex fuel. This model is known the have the least amount of issue out of all Gen 4 engines.
The LY5 is a non flex iron block, Same as LMG, just without flex fuel
The LH6 is a aluminum block and was only used in 2005-2009 GM midsized SUVS
The LH8/LH9 is a non-flex aluminum block and only used in the H3 and Colorado
The LMF is a iron Black and doesn't have AFM/DOD or Flex Fuel and was used in Vans only
The LS4 is a aluminum block used in cars only
VVT was introduced mid year 2010 model trucks in the LC9, LMG, LY5 and (LH9 for H3 and Colorado).
The LC9, LMG and LY5 were the only 5.3 options from 2010-2013 in Silverados.
4L60E was used from mid 1996 to 2013, 2010-2013 used only in 4.3 and 4.8 Engines
4L65E was used in all GM Trucks and SUV's using the 6.0 engine from 2001-2006(2007 for the Silverado SS and Denali's)
4L70E was used only in the TrailBlazer SS from Mid 2006-2009
