Default Intake options for my G8

Hey guys,

So I pulled the L76 engine in my G8, I have it all apart, and now I want to start planning my build. So far this engine has ported LS3 heads, forged bottom end and a D1SC with for now a 4" pulley, I'd like to step down to a 3.5" with some meth after I put everything back together. My question, is are there any worthwhile intake manifold setups that'll fit in my car without gutting the cowl or buying a cowl hood? I like the trick flow single plane intake that has the EFI design, but would it clear my stock hood with a 90 degree elbow and my TB? I noticed that the Fast intakes have a lot of hearsay and generally don't seem to be worthwhile compared to the factory intake for the money. It looks like I can do this trick flow setup for 3/4 of the cost and still make a lot more power.

Thoughts?

I would stick with the stock intake. For the effort/cost, the single plane isn't going to do much for you.

That's what I was thinking as a backup plan. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful for having a good factory intake, I just wish the aftermarket made a lot more power. I hear the Edelbrock crossover intake is coming out at the end of the month, I'm curious to see what kind of gains could be had with that. It's price at a rumored $1300~, but depending on the gains it may be worth it. Plus it looks killer IMO.

$1300 for an intake will never be worth it. You have a D1SC. Just pulley down and get the gains you would from a $1300 intake at absolutely no cost to you. Forced induction makes things like upgrading intakes almost completely pointless.

Your factory intake is better designed than most aftermarket intakes were, hence the trouble finding an aftermarket one that is worth the cost.

I went 163mph on a stock unported ls3 intake and 90mm TB in the 1/4 with a 6.2/88mm t4 turbo. That intake works!
