New to the Forum: Looking to build an LQ9 Hey Guys, I'm not sure if this is the 'best' place to post this thread but here goes. I'm looking to build a 6L cast block V8 but I'm running into more questions than answers when trying to find the right engine for this build. As I've come to understand, the knock sensors were moved from the top of the engine on the older models to the sides where they wouldn't be triggered by adding an aftermarket cam so I'm looking for a newer 6L truck engine but I"m not exactly which year/make/model I should be looking for. I'll me boring it out to 6.2L and rebuilding it with some help from a good friend that knows a lot more about rebuilding engines than I do but I have to find the motor and 6spd tranny that will mate up to the engine properly. I can't be the only guy wanting to accomplish this build and figured this forum would be a great place to start. I'm hoping the members on this forum are helpful a interested in seeing this project come together because it will be impressive once it gets started.

That's encouraging, thanks. My buddy and I pulled the wiring harness and ECU out of a wrecked Impala so we're going to flash it with CTS-V software so we can then do the LS programming and tuning. We've decided we can use an older LQ4 for the build actually so this engine will be a lot easier to find.

We found an LQ4 yesterday at a pick and pull and it's now in my garage ready for the tear down. I've gotta sell my current engine to fund this build but hopefully it will go quick and we can dive into this build.
