LS2 Oil Pan Change

LS2 Oil Pan Change Have acquired '05 LS2 from a GTO that has factory front sump oil pan. Have found the LSX oil pan thread here and it shows changing to '98-'02 LS1 F-body oil pan part #12628771 with rear sump. My question is do you also have to order the oil pump pickup-windage tray-dipstick tube-dipstick- with these additional parts also for the LS1?

If you already have an LS1 just transfer all those parts over, using a new gasket, and maybe a new pump if the old one has too many miles. Otherwise, yeah, get all the LS1 parts to fit.

The GTO has the dipstick going into the pan and the F body dipstick will go into the block. You will have to remove the plug from the dipstick hole that is in the GTO block. Best to do this when you have the pan off so you can use a punch from the bottom and knock the plug out. This will be a lot harder to do with the pan on.

Another Question; It appears when ordering the Fbody pan & windage tray new bolts/nuts are not included. Are these bolts/nuts re-usable, i would rather install new ones if available, does anyone know where they can be found? I'm going to call the local GM dealer here & see if anyone understands what i'm looking for.

LS2 Oil Pan Change I just came from my local Chevy dealer & found out the oil pan comes with the gasket, new bolts, windage tray, oil pressure fitting. You still order the oil pump pickup tube separately & the dipstick tube & dipstick. Of course the price is higher then GM parts direct but they have very high shipping cost.

Google "GM Parts Direct free shipping code" and open the first link. It will take you to the GM Parts Direct website, follow the instructions at the top about free shipping over $50. You will see they raise the prices slightly but then give you 5% off and free shipping. It comes out in the end that you get free shipping.
