Help with LS3 4l60e setup
I am building a 46 chevy pickup hotrod and have a custom chassis waiting for a power plant. I have the motor mounts and transmission mounts ready for an LS 4l60e or from what I have recently learned a 4l65e would do as well..
I just came across a 2010 camaro ls3, wiring harness, ecu and all accessories. From what I understand that will not bolt up to a 4l60e or 65. I need to change the flywheel, correct? Im told the ls3 only came in the manual transmission setup then. After a quick search for flywheels I got confused. So can anyone tell me what flywheel I should be looking to purchase?
Im told the wiring harness and ecu that would come with the motor would not work in my application. So another question i have is anyone know of a budget friendly harness, ecu, tcu kit? On average I am finding it will cost $1300
Also torque converter, will the stock converter on the 4l60e do okay with the ls3? Im not looking to go big with mods right now. In the future yes but right now I am on a tight budget. Ive been told i can get a converter for 160 bucks but after some research, they go all over in price. Also learning there is different stall ratings so im not even sure what Im looking for.
Additional information that may or not be needed:
Rear end is a ford 9" with 4.11 gears. Will have in the end 31" tires on the rear.
Thanks
Companies like Speartech can modify your harness for whatever you want to do.
The stock converter will be fine for the LS3
Take EVERYTHING electrical, including the entire engine wiring harness and the gas pedal as it is drive by wire.
