Helped a friend fire his LS3 with a sheetmetal intake, thought the ticking noise was the uusual header tick, however putting my hand on top of the sheetmetal intake removes some of the ticking---headers still tick, but would the injectors do the same for the intake??

Injectors DO make a form of ticking sound. Listen to any new car or truck(they ALL have injection), and you will hear a noise very similar to "header ticking".
