Default New ls-3 rhs as cast heads

Anybody have any personnel experience with the new as cast RHS LS-3 heads or the as cast Dart PRO1 heads? How much they flow and do they make more HP than the stock LS-3 head? Thanks

I have run darts on my car. Its a turbo car so alot of my experience probably wont help you. If i was supercharged it would be different becuase youd see boost go down and power go up. With a wastegate it still gives you the same 15 pounds no matter what. I know i had to add a good amount of fuel to keep it happy. I was picking up 45hp for every pound of boost and that went up to 60hp per pound after the heads and high ram install. Hard to say if that was because of the heads or being in a different part of the turbo map. Ive been told the big ports will effect driveability but my engine didnt seem to change. That may have been cause of the 3800 stall absorbed alot of power down low anyway so i didnt notice it. They work pretty damn good for me. No complaints.

Kinda priced right, hard to find LS3 cores for what they’re selling for. Called RHS a few months ago and their tech told me they’re just a replacement head and had no flow numbers, I’m guessing they flow a little better than OEM castings. They have bronze guides and the finished product looks like good quality, $433 bare each on eBay, $633 each with valves and dual springs by the same seller. Not a bad way to go if you have to find cores and have those rebuilt.

First you should decide if you need more than the stock LS3 heads, as they are surprisingly good for pretty decent power levels.

There are easier and cheaper ways to gain 15HP than an expensive pair of heads.

Yes a bigger cam would get me more HP, BUT I want to keep a smooth idle! My main goal is a street car with just a little More HP. than stock! Thanks

Which cam do you have now? If stock, different heads won't gain much, and many cams can gain that much power without changing the idle much at all, sometimes if any at all.

I went with used LS3 0821 heads ($450) and sent to FED to port and springs. Have less than $2,000 in the heads.

Due to smallish cam, I wouldn't spend on porting. I would mill some and run cometic 40 gaskets for increased compression which will give you added torque and hp.

Good thinking! The gaskets will keep quench within bounds, while milling will get the C.R. where you want it.

Spending money on a really good VJ from TEA or the likes would more beneficial than anything.

If it's at the shop yes cut the heads.
