Default Intercooler options

So I found a pretty big boost restriction in my intercooler. I have a 2005 GTO with a F1A-94 with the ATI intercooler on it. Should be seeing close to 16lbs of boost but due to the intercooler it’s only making 11lbs. Was just curious if anyone knew if any of the eBay intercooler sure were any good to use or if it would cause the same problem. I’m trying to make close to 1300whp only making 1082whp at the moment.

Boost is a measure of RESTRICTION. Do you measure more pressure before the intercooler than after it? If so THEN it is too small. But if you are getting 11psi all thru the system the problem is not the intercooler.

I don’t have a way to measure before the intercooler but I was running a 3.75 blower pulley and a 7in crank pulley and it was making 8lbs last year this year I stepped the crank pulley to a 8.25in. I find it very hard to believe it only picked up 3lbs from a 1.25in jump

I have a boost gauge in the car that T’s off of the bypass valve which sadly due to extremely tight clearances I had to put the big red bypass valve post intercooler (yes I know not ideal for keeping low IAT’s) so the only measurement I have is MAP and the boost gauge post intercooler

Find away to measure pre-intercooler pressure. If it's still 11psi the intercooler is not the issue.

You cant go by that. You are making big power already, even with low boost. That leads me to believe your engine is already flowing big amounts of air without the blower so your pulley change may normally pick up double the boost on a smaller more restricted motor. also, in warmer weather you will make less boost.

Yea possibly i don’t know just kind of stumped. After doing the math I’m spinning the blower over 8k rpms more than last year now. And nothing inside of the motor has changed from last year other than a fresh set of head gaskets ( that I change every year) and some new plugs.
