If you build the LS3 with a 24x reluctor, then yes, it can be done.

It's not that bad. I've been setting up my C5 for a gen IV swap. If you don't want to change the reluctor, there is a lingenfelter 58-24x converter box that seems to have good reviews after they fixed it. (I'll probably go 24x for simplicity). There are a few other things like knock sensor relocation and adapter harnesses that can be easily bought that I'm dealing with on my setup, but overall it's not that complicated of a swap. Just do your homework and make sure that you have all the parts. To answer your question, yes your factory harness will work with adapters for a few things like injector plugs, map sensor and knock sensors.

You may need extension/adaptors for the knock sensors when using an LS3 block as well as cam position sensor extension, and.a DBC throttle body.
Yes, try to reuse your 24x reluctor wheel, it’s much easier and cheaper.

If building the engine its worth while to swap to the crank from the 58x to 24x reluctor wheel as mentioned above. That way you don't ever have to worry about the 58x to 24x box eventually failing etc.

However if you go with?the LPE 58x to 24x box it works very well. My 99 TA has a 416 LSA/LS3 with the Lingenfelter 58x to 24x box and has had no issues over the last three years. The box may take 1 to 2 seconds to sync sometimes. One can continuous crank or just hit the key and if it doesn't immediately start, switch off and hit again. Mine normally starts instantly on the second hit. The double bump works great for my car. If you use a LPE 58x to 24x box locate it away from heat sources as heat is bad news for the electronics in the box.
