I got a good deal on a set of new Edelbrock 41183 coil covers for my LS3. I did see the info online about needing Delphi 12558948 coils.
Couldn’t really find any info if the LS3 coils would fit or not.
So it turns out my coils won’t fit, mounting hole spacing on the inside of the coil covers isn’t the same plus my coils are a bit to fat.
Looking at Jegs and Summit the recommended coils are a lot more than the coil covers. Yeah I know I should have researched this first.
Any of you know of other coils that would work before I hit the junkyard for some LS1 coils?
So new coils weren’t gonna happen, the best price I could find was $55 each.
Today I mounted the Edelbrock covers to a 2 x 4 then put the 2 x 4 in the vise on my milling machine.
I milled off about .25” off the side of the lower boss so the body of the coils wouldn’t hit the lower mount boss. Had to do this cuz the coil hole mounting spacing don’t match the threaded hole on the cover.
The coils are now only held on with one bolt and a lock washer which are fine.
Also had to cut a hole in the end of each cover for PCV vac lines.
