What else do I need for my swap? Hey guys, I’ve been combing through the forums and goodie to try to find some clear answers for my swap I have planned but I’m not finding exactly what I’m looking for and hoping someone can clear some things. I currently have a 2000 z28 with a gen 3 lq4 that’s built that I’m looking to swap into my gen 4 06 envoy Denali. My lq4 is n/a and will stay that way going into the Denali while the 5.3 i take out will become a boost motor for the camaro. The thing is when I do this swap I want to keep everything on the lq4 as is and basically make it as plug and play as possible, so as far as sensors can I keep my gen 3 knock sensors in the valley and purchase a harness that works with the gen 4 wiring? And same thing with the cam sensor, can I just buy an extension harness to plug in to the gen 3 location and keep my gen 3 timing cover? And is there anything else I might be missing that I will have to move around to make this work?

It won't work as-is. The LQ4 is Gen III with 24x reluctor,
Your Envoy being Gen IV needs a 58x engine with all the correct sensors.
Your LQ4 would need the reluctor changed to 58x and late sensors used.

Is the GMC crank position sensor black or gray, that’ll give you an an idea if it’s going to be easy or difficult. It’s behind the starter get a flashlight and a creeper, maybe a small mirror. ‘06, I’ll bet it’s gray.
