exhaust balance pipe Hi, I have a 1985 S10 pickup with a 5.3 and a 4L60E. I made a custom 2 1/2" exhaust system and it is very close to the cab floor in spots. I have no AC and am worrying about heat pentation through the floor making the ride uncomfortable. I am making heat shields for the mufflers and planning on making some for the intermediate pipes, but I have a balance pipe in-between the pipes. My question is does the balance pipe get hot enough to warrant making a heat shield for it. The exhaust does not flow directly through it so it may not get that hot. Space would be a issue first of all and it would not look good. I'm also putting in floor insulation pads down also to help. What should I do?

HI G Atsma, thank you for your input, my pipe is below the trans and driveshaft. There seems to be enough air space around it so I will leave it alone. Thanks and have a good day and the upcoming weekend.
