Default Belt Alignment Issue

I've been scratching my head for a while with this. I've thrown a belt after a couple laps on track. This is where I noticed an issue. Here is my setup.LS1 alternator

551668-3

LS Truck-Billet Low Mount Alt Bracket kit w/ pulley

Serpentine Belt - 805K6

Tensioner: Katech A4425

Power Steering: Turn One w/ 2012 GM Bracket

W/P - 2014 Camaro SS Stock
Damper - ATI 918628 (2010-15 Camaro SS LS3) (no a/c)

I've used the laser alignment tool and it hasn't really helped much. This is such a stupid problem to have. Does anyone see any issues with the FEAD components I'm using?

The belt frays at the front and you can see it running off the harmonic damper.

I had an issue with this and determined it to be my bracket kit. I was using the factory accessories with some brand of brackets, I can’t remember the company, it was like Bills hot rods or something. They were steel brackets.

I ended up switching to ICT Billet brackets and my belt issues went away. I was constantly breaking belts or throwing belts. Spent probably $200 on belts lol

I've contacted multiple companies regarding this issue, and we are still dumb founded.

I did laser align all my pulleys and they align. I couldn't get the best shot to the damper, but it looks okay to me.

I'm planning on removing the Katech Tensioner and installing an OEM spring actuated. I hope I won't have any clearance issues so I can test tonight.

Here is a test I did last night with my 4-rib belt to check movement.

Do you have a shot of the balancer looking up at bottom with the belt on. So the camera would be on the floor looking up.

Just this one right now.

I have swapped to an OEM tensioner and re-installed the alt. bracket after shaving the idler spacer by 2 mm to move the pulley closer to the block.. I want to test if that has any improvement.

You don't think the balancer is loose or moving back and forth? Am I imaging things or is it pulled out from the timing cover seal or is that the way it is suppose to be (I see some air there)?

I don't have a reference for how far it's supposed to stick out, but I did measure from the crank bolt head to the outer edge of the damper and it seemed accurate.

Is that an 8 rib pulley and you have 6 ribs on the other stuff?

6 rib pulleys.

This belt was a 6 rib that 1 rib was torn off, so it's a 5 rib now. I cleaned it up and flipped it backwards to have a smooth front.

How old is balancer, the rubber ring inside (or whatever it is) can wear out? The shoulders are not very high on this pulley look like the belt is even taller than the shoulders, thus if you have any margin of error it will not hold belt in like OEM which have like .150 high shoulders.

Oh, maybe 12-18 months old. Less than 5k miles.

I agree with the shoulders being low on the damper. I went hot rodding last night and it didn't jump. The belt looked in line from the p/s - idler - damper, which is a first.

Once I believe this is working, I will purchase a higher quality belt than these Duralast -- most likely Gates.
