Default MSD intake vs. carbon pTR

I currently have a Mamo-ported MSD intake on my LSX 440. I am perfectly happy with the performance. Just looking for something that 'looks' like an intake, but more importantly, frees up some room for steam lines and other things. I'm not looking to gain any power necessarily, but don't want to lose any. I am looking at the Performance Design Carbon pTR. Anyone have any experience/idea how the two would compare?

thanks.

The warped runners you saw were on the Fast, not the pTR right? The pTR is carbon fiber -a different animal...

Would sure like to hear from someone who has experience with this intake....

I have the carbon PTR on my 468 and love it, but unfortunately for me it flat lines at about 6500 due to the air demands of my 4.250 stroke. They would be perfect for a 4.125 stroke motor such as yours . I'm pulling mine off to go to a CID/4500 set up.

You have any dyno numbers on your combo?

I have chassis dyno number which you can't go by since it has a 8 " 6k stall. No engine dyno numbers.

Ok, thanks. As said earlier, not expecting to gain anything, just not wanting to lose anything with the swap...

Your intake looks like it is sitting a little low - hard to tell from the picture. Does it look like this one?

Mine is a S10 with 4" cowl and I still had to machine the motor mounts to drop the engine down to clear the hood. They're about 11" in height from the valley cover to the top of the intake.

I have the fast version in my Chevelle with the factory cowl hood and it fits barely. Had to notch the bracing to clear the throttle body.

Thanks! That is a big help. I also have the DSE subframe which lowers the engine about an inch. I think I might be ok.

i've got a boat load of data comparing the two in my HPR 468 thread.

That saying, here's the recent baseline dyno with this intake. This is a Z06 with 3.90 rear gears.
691 SAE at 7K rpm on the long runners
