Question DoD Delete and Valley Cover questions

I have a 5.3L LMG that I am planning to rebuild. I have found some DoD Delete kits, but I wasn't sure what valley cover to use. I know I don't want to (or can't) use the original AFM type valley cover. The flat/blank looking valley covers I have found don't appear to come with the little O-rings on the underside. Do the non-DoD valley covers need the little O-rings? I have also seen two different types of valley cover seals/gaskets. One is a flat metal and rubber gasket, just like the Gen-3 style. The other is a formed silicone/rubber seal that appears to "stick" in a groove in the underside of the valley cover (kinda like the vale cover seals). I already have an LS3 valley cover that I was thinking about using for a future build. Could I use the LS3 valley cover on the LMG? I'm getting a little confused with all the different types of covers/seals. What is the easiest option here?

You have the perfect solution with the LS3 valley cover. It is EXACTLY what you need.
The LS3 has a DOD/AFM capable block but does not use it. Hence the valley cover it uses.

I thought the LS3 cover might work. I wasn't sure if it was the preferred cover, due to the PCV tube in it. I haven't even thought about what PCV set-up I'm gonna use. I didn't want to buy another catch can kit, because I plan to sale this motor. At this point, there's no way to know how it will be used. I suppose the PCV tube on the LS3 cover could be plugged/capped if it's not wanted. This motor will have the TBSS intake on it, if that matters.

I just did a delete recently and used the BTR delete kit. comes with plugs for the oil gallies that you just tap in. Stock valley cover still worked fine

So, you used the stock AFM valley cover?

I might have to look into that, because I was kinda wanting to save the LS3 cover for later. I want to build a bigger motor for my Camaro later on, and I was thinking about starting with either a 6.0 or 6.2 block. Most of those come with AFM, so the LS3 cover would be ideal.

If it is easy enough to use the stock AFM cover, then I might try that instead. I did not plan on using the AFM cover, because I heard there were some issues with oil pressure and some kind of filter under the oil pressure sensor....? Like I said, I'm a little confused with these options. I'm more familiar with the Gen-3 motors. This is my first experience with a Gen-4 motor.

you are correct, there is a screen filter in the oil pressure sender port. I’m not sure about this but after doing the job I believe the oil pressure issues are from not reading instructions. The oil pump requires an alignment tool if you are reusing the old pump.if the tool is not used then I think that is what causes the majority of the issues
