Default Help seating damper

I walked it on to the crank and went very tight with the install tool. I didnt want to crank much harder with that tool. That left me at where you see in the picture. I then tried to walk it on the rest with the old crank bolt, but it would not move. Is this as far as its supposed to go or does it need to go flush with the end of the crank snout?

It doesn't go as far as flush to the end of the crank snout. Still, that doesn't look far enough to me, although I'm not real positive exactly how far it does go on.

It's supposed to go on until it presses against the oil pump gear and the timing chain sprocket.

The bolt head never touches the crank snout, this is how the bolt tightens against the damper, and why there is a thick structural washer under the bolt head (versus a normal thin washer). If the pulleys line up then you did it right.

I dont have a belt to check if they align. I cranked on the install tool very hard and the old bolt very hard, well past 240ft/lb. I think it must be fully seated. Here's a picture of the backside.

Well, if it's not, there's a post about "why does my car throw the belt all the time" in your near future.

That looks correct, You can always see if the belt lines up. In the future you can put ice on the crankshaft nose and heat up the hub/balancer in an over and it will go on a lot easier.

I called ATI and they gave me the measurement Its supposed to sit .219 inches off the crank snout which is right where I have it.
