Default Balancer and key way

I am going to verify TDC and set up a pointer on my 5.3, is there a kit or something where you can pin the balancer after you do this? I seem to remember somebody doing it but can't find any info. I figure there is something out there where you could put the balancer back in the same place every time with out have the crank and balancer cut for a regular key way.

I did another search and found several, even found a couple on ebay. From what I see they all pretyy much look the same, is there one better than the others? I did see one that had threaded type pins but I don't really see anything wrong with 1 1/4 inch smooth pin unless you were running a procharger.

Since it's a precision tool, I'd buy one from a reputable company. And a smooth pin won't matter, even in a blown application. The amount of force needed to spin the balancer over that pin would be quite significant.

Keyway and slot enables pulley alignment to the keyway during install.

A pin does not, and you'll be lucky if you can install the damper again perfectly aligned with the hole for the pin.
