Building an LS3/LS6 Intake assy swap
So here's the thing tho... you tune a PCM for the LS3 you want, you flash the stock tune back in that actually doesn't get rid of the fact it's been tuned. You'll be nailed for that one. That is literally a zero mod state. Keep it stock or to the Gulag...
I'm aware with the LS3 swap that some sensors move around, but they are the same sensors (outlined here ). It appears that once you deal with the ECM tuning and a few wiring harness, the LS3 swap itself is pretty straightforward (well as much any any engine swap can be).
To be clear, this isn't going to have a massive cam in it - this is basically a stock C6 430HP 6.2.
So - if we go back to the factory tune - take the adaptor harness off the fuel injectors/ throttle body, and go back to the factory 'manifold package'. Where does this go wrong?
Not trying to fight here, just want to understand.
But that was far less complicated than what's going on here.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
You can do any mod you want IF-
1) It has a CARB exemption, OR-
2) It is not visible or audible to the naked eye and ear (Any hardware mods or any non loping cam are OK. See #3 below), AND-
3) it will run OK with a stock untouched tune, because they WILL know if you touch the tune.
Oher than all the above, it's wide open.... LOL
That's how it goes in that state. Be less complicated to move out.
I doubt there is a stock tune that will accommodate a 6.2 with LS6 cam and top end.
And the OBDII smog station computer will catch any non-stock ECM hiccups.
if he just puts a bigger short block in it and keeps the compression close to what it was it should run and drive and pass inspection without setting any lights. Plenty of boners out there replace swap their 4.8/5.3 trucks with Lq4 and drive it around without telling anybody but This is not a guarantee, I don't know how far off the fuel trims will be but It shouldn't have any drivability problems. Sure the catalytic converters are going to get hotter pushing it out in the higher revs so keep an eye on the temps like I said this is impossible but This is just my my beliefs turned to facts based on my own experience building and tuning stuff. Are the fuel trims going to be off? You bet they are, but it's still going to be a hell of a lot better than whatever adapter plate hobble cobbled mess he's able to put together out of all those useless however, shiny and expensive parts. Remember whatever he puts together still has to blow through the same stupid catalytic converters so Spend far less money and build a really nice short block he'll still have plenty of money for tuning software and maybe a few books. No need to reinvent the wheel here
he can load his own program later where he's fixed his ve pe vital air flow tables and maybe even the timing a little bit but not too much. Got to watch those temps with the restrictive exhaust but it's not going to pollute any worse than stock and I bet the gas mileage is damn close

Again, moving out is simpler.
