Default Hipo catalytic converter for V6 2001 Firebird?

Can anyone recommend a high flow cat for a 2001 V6 Firebird?? It would be cool to look at both universal/weld on ones, and direct fit too. That way I can decide which way to go as we can cut and weld if necessary. But if the price is not too much, a direct fit bolt on would be easier.

Hoping to get a slightly louder exhaust and maybe a bit more power from replacing the worn out one. (Daughter's car and that's what she wants...)

Thanks!

Depends on which state you're in. If you must follow CARB rules (many others besides California do), you must use a CARB approved converter. No universal ones allowed.

What does Summit Jeg's etc. have on offer? Walker, Catco, Borla, etc. etc. etc. All those guys offer both app-specific and universal ones. Measure the inlet & outlet & length, go from there; assuming of course that it's straight, or you can easily patch it in with part of a mandrel-bent bend. If it has some kind of weird bend or something in one of its pipes, your options might be somewhat limited.

I doubt changing the cat will affect either power or "sound" very much at all, unless your existing one is fornicated. For either of those goals I'd look elsewhere besides the cat.
