Default first timer LS user

i have a 1975 Camaro that is running a 383 small block chev and a th350 setup,, and a 750 Holley Carby.

i am looking at an LS swap and have an option to buy an L92 engine and a 6L80 Auto From a 2008 Cadillac SUV 2x4.

I DONT WANT THE GEARBOX and i Will run a 4L80E..

Apparently the 6.2 L92 is a VVT Engine.
I want to dump all that garbage and run a Truck Norris Cam,,,,,, a single plane intake and an 850 holley CARBY

I understand the gearbox will need a throttle possition sensor setup.

What is needed to dump the VVT crap and i am told the L92 has a 58X reluctor wheel.
all i can find is a front timing case cover and kit that Texas speed sells.

What else do i need to investigate and what Holley box will run the coils and ignition and gearbox besides the tps sensor holley sells.

My goal is 550HP and 500 TQ

i have a complete 1998 LS1 but its a battle to get 550 500 with a carby without heads, pistons,etc,etc,etc
the L92 in 420 HP to start.

I dont want an LS3 as there hard to find under $12000 used in Australia.

the texas speed kit comes with everything to replace the VVT, you will need more cam than the truck norris cam to meet your 550hp goal and an Holley Part # 551-102 box will run your ignition/trans side of things

optimum cam selection will depend on what rear gear, tire size and stall converter youre going to be running

I used the Texas Speed VVT L92 delete kits twice. Worked great. Didn't go carbed but went with a LS3 intake on both swaps.
3 bolt cam.
Replaced the timing chain guides from the spring loaded type to earlier style plastic type.
Also IMO new push rods, valve springs.
Pic of my 80 and 73 Camaros with L92 swaps.

Default while yer in there

@LS1 TJ just curious why you swapped the push rods. and when you were in the timing set changing the guides did you feel the need to change the gear or chain? i'm looking at a cloyes timing set right now for an LS1 swap into a 67 camaro. my LS1 is a 07 silverado motor with VVT delete.

So on my LS builds with aftermarket cams I always replace the valve springs and push rods with upgraded after market parts. Maybe not needed depending on the cam specs.
I reuse the stock cam sprocket and timing chain if in good shape. Never had a stock timing chain fail.
Cam chain guides in my 2012 and my 2008? were the spring loaded type. I just like the plastic guides. Others can chime on the topic of cam chain guides.
On both of my L92 swaps I used the Texas Speed kit to convert from a single bolt cam to a three bolt LS cam. Both have worked well.
