Water Pump Options

Water Pump Options What are my options for a skinnier water pump? The ls7 water pump sticks out from the block too far for my application (kit car).
I know the old style ls1 water pump is skinnier, but it is no longer available. If you bring in your c5 vette, they put on the new style that comes on the ls7. I have one but I'm not going use it on a brand new ls7 since it already has 70k miles on it.
I basically just need a skinny water pump. I am considering going electric water pump but do any of you know if they are any skinnier? (like the Meziere?)

I have been told the old ls1 water pump will make it all fit, but have not put it on to confirm this myself. The new style water pump is 3 3/8" deep while the old style water pump is 3 1/16" deep so if its true that it will fit with the old style, I only need it to be 5/16" skinnier (3/8" skinnier would probably be better).
Fitment:
Depth measurement (7 3/8 - 4 = 3 3/8"):

Damn, thanks for that picture. I sourced a brand new old style LS1 water pump from the local NAPA.... maybe I should go with that Meziere anyways since it would give me even more clearance.

Right now? 2 brand new newer-style pumps (1 I bought from GM and 1 from the LS7), and 2 old-style pumps (1 that is on the LS7 that I bought from NAPA and 1 used from an LS1). I am returning the one from GM though, and would return the one to NAPA if I were to get an electric.
