Question LSX and What to do?

So I recently purchased a 1993 Chevrolet Camaro with a mean LT1. Unfortunatelly the engine was recently deemed unsalvageable and unworthy by every mechanic in town. After losing respect for the previous owner, I started looking at the positive side of this new problem. I then decided I would look at buying an lsx bowtie block.
With this comes many questions and queries. I know a bit, but I also have alot of questions and would rather be prooved wrong than continue being niave.
So, the questions begin.
Boring an engine out has alot of positive ends to it, and the LSX can be bore out to 4.250".
What are the implications of boring an engine out?
Is there a happy medium or is bigger ALWAYS better?
What are the positive ends to it exactly?

With the engine bore out I would have to buy enlarged pistons.
What should I be looking for in pistons?
Next comes heads, springs, and rockers.
Will bore affect any of this?
What should I look for as far as the heads and such fitting? I read somewhere that the larger pistons in a bored out lsx could damage the heads if not calabrated correctly? Whats this about?

I will appreciate everything you can do to help me out. There will be many more questions and postings by me as I progress in building the block up.
Thanks guys.

Where are you in Texas? If you are in South Texas, you are going to be in good shape. Forget all of your questions. You should only have one. " who can set me up with a wicked motor built right?" You should only gather up your money at this point and take your money to LME (late model engines) in Houston and tell him what you want. He will ask you " how much money do you have to spend? , what are you going to do with this engine? are you going to run pump gas, nitrous, blower, turbo, closed track race it, drag race it" and things like that. Plan on spending 15k on the engine and more on the supporting items such as fuel system, computer, subframe connectors, rear end that will hold this power, tires that will stick, a good lawyer if you plan on playing on the street. If you're not looking for some sick amount of horsepower or don't have a rediculous amount of money to blow, you might consider just getting a 402 built or something of that nature. Boring an engine isn't an issue as long as you leave enough material on the walls when you're done. Yes you will have to buy pistons to match. Yes if you want the bigger cubes, you will have to buy a stroker crank. If you want to take full advantage of the LSX block, you will pay for it. If you are not going to take full or at least reasonable advantage of the LSX block's potential, then I see no reason to spend the money.

I'm breaking in my LME built 454LSx in my C5 Corvette right now. All I can say is, is I have owned MANY high HP setups. I pulled my 800rwhp/850rwtq motor/blower combo out of this car for my 454. The 454 is WAAYYY more fun to drive.

I will NEVER have anyone else build my motors. LME is the best hands down. They have built 2 for me this year..

I would absolutely love to hear what kind of dyno #'s you're putting down and track times if you can stick that car to the ground! I am in the process of helping my best friend drop a motor in his Viper that LME built. It is stroked to 510. I don't know if you have heard of SW ( if you have I need say no more ) , but this engine is as close to his as it gets and he put down 650rwhp on pump gas and engine alone. We will be adding a 300 shot of pudding to the mix once we get her tuned. Hoping to show some of the twin turbo, higher horsepower cars in my town that a lower horsepower nitrous powered wagon has the possibility of making better track times.

First I have to congratulate the original poster on this. There are far too many people who like to sound like they know what they're talking about to admit they need help. Good for you.

Next, are you sure you want to do the conversion? It sounds like you're not real savvy with projects of this sort in the first place. There's way more involved in building a fast car than the engine. Especially if using an LSX block. You're going to have to put a new harness and computer in your car and will likely have to do a little more than that to make this work. Plus, you have to consider how much it's going to cost you to get a tranny and rear end to hold the power you're seeking. It's very easy to run that cost up in a hurry. I'm in the middle of my build and have more than 10k wrapped up in my engine alone (which isn't even done yet). I still have to get all the other parts to support that. I'll likely have 20k+ spent in the total drivetrain, fuel system & cooling system when all is said and done.

Reliable, fast, cheap... you may pick two.
