Ever since I put my motor in I have had problems reading the oil. The range would fluctuate badly. I knew the tube was not bent. So just in case I went and got a new tube the other night. As I was installing I noticed that the bottom of the tube was hitting something inside the motor not allowing the tube to fully seat but not enough to really notice. I decided to try and cut about a 1/4" off the old tube where it sits in the motor and give that a try and it worked. The oil level was perfect. So I did that to the new tube just incase the old tube was bent in anyway, which I could not see any signs of a visible bend. In either case I had already bought a new tube and knew it was not bent so I decided to use it.
I was just curious to see if anyone else has ever had to do this to their oil tube before. It must have been enough to push the stick in improperly to misread the oil level.

When I got mine there was no tube hole cut. So I had to drop the pan off it when the motor was on the engine stand. I measured the hole on the stock block and got the drill bit out that fit the stock hole and drilled it all the way. Iit was perfect, only thing was you have to put a small taper on the top of the hole to let it seat properly and seal right. Hope this helps I have seen alot of the companies do not put the taper on it and it will not seat or seal properly without this stupid taper.
