Most agree that a tune, cai, converter, electric fan will get you the most performance for you're dollar. Wanting to not void the warranty may be tough if you want to go fast. I would say get a tune and cai to start with.

You may want to do some trans mods also a lager stall with bolt-on's. The tranny's are real weak & most are toast before 10k. Second gear band is first to go yhen disc paks. Smell the trans oil on the dip stick if it has a burnt smell it is already toast. I had a build at 5k & mine was in bad shape with less then 10 passes & driveing like a old man on the street. Stall/trans mods & bolt-ons will make it run 12's. I ran 12.12 on a stock block & bolt-ons. With a small shot of nitrous. LOL

yah I am worried about the tranny from all the horror stories. It has 700 miles on it now and I want to keep warranty for that reason. What is the factory take on this? Also can they tell if its been tuned if I have it reflashed back to stock when i take it in?

the trannys are fine for mild mods. just put the biggest cooler you can fit on there THEN do some of the above mentioned mods. I towed every weekend last summer on 120* roads without an external cooler and my trans fluid looks/smells the same as it did when i bought it 16,686 miles ago..
now since I talked **** about it the ******* thing will probably blow.

It never really blew up for me but I felt safer with FLT going trough it just to make sure. From what I was told it was on it's way out anyhow. So for a safety measure put a big *** tranny cooler in it.
This is what I run (I run 2 coolers).
paint bolts black....lol
must trim a lil.....
Plus this one......

If you're worried about the computer. The only thing I can suggest is getting a spare computer and use that one for the tune. When you have to go to the dealer, replace computer and remove mods. Kind of a pain in the ***, it's a tough call. Modding is risky, you never know what can happen. Might be a good idea start a savings fund for the trans just in case.

I removed the TM at the 17K mark and 30K later no problems. Overall, I love this truck. My only true complaints are the front seats and center console layout design sucks. I don't beat the s--t out of it because it's my daily driver.

Yeah if the tranny is beat up much it might hold.....When I end up driving it it is at the track (it's the wifes toy). Stock tranny had about 15,000 miles of no TM and 100 or so passes) plus one bottle for the gas!!

man I missed those coolers when you posted them. LOL. Ive seen more different trans cooler setups on these trucks than I think any other vehicle.
