LS3 Starter???

LS3 Starter??? Does anyone know if there is a new/different starter for the LS3 compared to a LS1? I just purchased a LS3 T56 combo everything is going relatively smoothly with the install except for the starter, the one that came with the engine and transmission doesn't fit. I have called the company that I got the combo from and said he isn't sure what is wrong. Looking at the starter I am forced to believe one of two things. First, and I hope is the problem, is that I have the wrong starter for an LS3. I have one that is for a LS1. Second, if the starters are the same, is that the block wasn't machined correctly. I really hope that isn't the case. Since I am pretty sure that the starter I have is the same that the manufacture states will fit the engine and the fact that it doesn't is making me think that it is block problem.

OK. At this point, I am not sure this thread is in the right location. I am doing a swap and was supplied with an LS3 and T56 out of a LS2 GTO. Not sure why, but the GTO got a different bellhousing and a starter that is made buy Mitsubishi. From that I was told all other LSx setups us the same starter and only the GTO got Mitsubishi one. So maybe my question would have been asked in the Conversions & Hybrids form.
The GTO (LS2 - 2005-06) did get its own starter. PN 92169668 from Mitsubishi.
2006-2007 LS2 - Y car
2006-2009 LS7 - Y car
2008-2009 LS3 - Y car
All of these use the same starter. GM PN 89017847 or AC Delco 323-1640
