Where to tap LS2 water pump for gauge?

On the old LS1's the water pump had a nice thick & flat boss on the upper side that I had tapped for a temp gauge fitting.

The new LS2 water pumps are differently shaped to accommodate the larger DBW T/B.

Just wondering if anybody has tapped there LS2 water pump, I just dont want to drill into only to find out there isn't enough aluminium to make a thread.

or you could just use the opening on the back of the passenger head. You will need an adapter though
