Oil pump selection?
Oil pump selection? Ok I'm in the process of changing a cam out in a 08 silverado 6.0 L76. This was a DOD VVT motor in which the lifters have been replaced with LS7 lifters and the VVT has been removed and a three bolt cam with gear has been installed. To make this work the valley cover with dod control solenoids was removed and a LS2 valley cover installed. Here is the question, which oil pump could I use? The factory pumps have had issues and I'm wanting to replace this one. The DOD motors use a higher volume oil pump then what is used in the LS2 non-dod motors. I'm assuming this is because of the lifters used. 1.24 revs/c3 vs. .94revs/c3. I'm thinking since the dod has been removed I pretty much have a LS2 motor. I should be able to use a regular oil pump? Not much info for these around and I guess I need to find someone who has been through this already. Keep in mind this is the third cam going in and everything works fine. The oil pressure with stock engine was 20-55. The oil pressure after the cam and lifter swap is now 40-60. I thinking this is because of the lifter and valley cover change. Any help would be great and sorry for the long post.
