Car Leaking Coolant
Car Leaking Coolant So I found out yesterday my car is leaking coolant. Looks like its from the drivers side by the manifold. Anyone have this happen to their LS1? If it is the manifold gasket does anyone know how much it were to cost to replace? I'll be doing the labor myself. Any other suggestions are appreciated.
Is it near the driver's side exhaust manifold? If it is it could be the headgasket. The intake does not contain coolant. The only other thing is the cross over steam lines that run on top of the valley cover.
I thought it was the headgasket at first, but after me and a buddy looked it over turns out it's the water pump thats out. We started the car let it run and looking all over I discovered the leak at the pump. Looks like I'll be replacing it this weekend. Thanks for the input.
a problem I had went like this
I had a coolant leak coming from the front of my ls1. It would only happen when giving it pretty good gas. I did a pressure test on the system(at auto tech school). With more pressure the leak sped up. I pressure tested the radiator cap and it was holding too much pressure before popping off to release.(((((((THAT WAS MY PROBLEM and What caused the system to hold too much pressure)))))) I bought a new gm radiator cap and a water pump incase. Took the water pump off and it seemed fine. So I just took the new water pump gaskets out of the new water pump box and only installed the new gaskets. I put it all back together and haven't had a problem since. Took the new water pump back to the dealership and got my two hundred something dollars back

Thanks for the input 7camaro7. I never thought about that. I'll check the system and see what happens. Keeping the $$ in my pocket and still fix the problem would be nice. Hopefully its just the pump gasket.
