my 403 is getting a scat, yesterday i saw a ford motor i guess sean is doing thats gonna be 1200hp and its useing a scat as well.

i was told scat > eagle

ive used scat rods in the past as well with great success on a turbo car

Callies IMO...I got mine for $1000 new...seemed like a reasonable price...I've never heard of any issues with the higher quailty stuff like Lunati, Callies etc.

I voted Eagle cause that is what I have. Had I had more money available 2 years ago when I did the build I most likely would have went with a Callies. Having the bottom end gone thru in a couple of weeks, I will post up if I see any issues with the Eagle crank.

I did this research in 04 for my LS6 stroker on my old Camaro SS.

I bought the following:

Callies Racemaster (#AP031V-RM) 4.0" crank - $1441.00
Eagle H beam connecting rods - $435.00
Diamond forged pistons p/n 11504 - $600.00
Diamond Proselect ring set - $180.00
Clevite 663H connecting rod bearings - $56.00
Federal Mogul main bearing set - $56.00
Balance crank - $150.00 or so
Total - $2918.00

I voted for Callies. The compstar is engineered quite well and is very affordable. I have an eagle crank in my car but only because the compstar was not out when I built my engine.

I would not buy an eagle personally, of all the cranks I hear about, eagle gets the worst wrap. With callies, and lunati being top dogs. Cola cranks were good also I think.

Same Chinese factory or a least across the street. Having used all of the below in stroker applications, I would make my selection in this order, least recomended to best: Just above stock Scat/Eagle. Callies Compstar line is also Chinese made, but they are the best of the Chinese made cranks/rods. Up from there would be the Callies Dragon Slayer which is made in the USA (right on). The Callies Magnum competes aqainst the Lunati pro series which are both US made and are top shelf cranks.

I have a Callies Magnum that is going into my LSX build. It's a shame to cover that thing up with an oil pan.

Ok, So Would U Build a Motor with a Stock Crankshaft for a Street Car? And Just Add pistons, H-Beam Rods, Heads, bearings, etc? Or Will it make more sense just to /buy a Crank?

Couldn't agree more. I've been around the Eagle and other Chinese junk enough to know that the fit and finish is **** poor. I built a 383 stroker for a customer that had over .0035" out of round in one of the rod journals. The fillets look like crap, there is flash in the webs, I can go on. I'll stick with Callies crankshafts and Crower rods for anything I build for my own. Never had any experience with Lunati, except for their camshafts, but just because they suck doesn't mean that their bottom end components do.

coolguy, you don't need forged crankshafts until you start getting close to 1000 horsepower. For most mortals, they will work fine for street duty.

big power + cheap crank will be one of 2 things breakage or deflection and with deflection comes bearing problems . i have seen scat and eagle that was what i would consider junk out of the box . i use lunati or callies. just my 2 cents
