Default 427 build - 6.0L block?

I'm beating around the idea of starting a 427 build for my 01 SS. I've got 91,000 miles on the factory motor, still runs better than new but I figured start now and by the time the stock motor goes I'd have a bad *** engine ready to replace it. Now, can I use an Iron LQ4 6.0L block to get 427 cubic inches? This will take an overbore and stroker crank correct? I've read quite a few posts and haven't seen anything on the truck blocks. This is for a budget build is the reason I'm considering this. Thanks

if you use a 4.125 stroke, and if you have to bore it (if it doesnt need it dont) a 4.030 bore will give you a 421.

You can get to 427" with a 6.0 truck block, but you ought to be asking yourself, SHOULD you With that much stroke, the piston is gonna be SHORT, and you are gonna (more than likely) have oil consumption problems rahter quickly. If this is a DD, then I vote no. Race car or just occasional street, it can be done. The max overbore on a 6.0 truck block is .060, so you are gonna have to get your cubes from teh crank, and again, it is gonna leave you with a short piston.

You could do one of our 440's which use the LS7 block.

You could stick with a 415 to make it less expensive. Give either myself or Tim a call if you want to talk more.

4.060 bore and 4.125 stroke give you 427. Don't run too much comp. you may run into heating issues.
