power or et diff in L92's and TFS 235's? on a 408 11.5-12.1 comp. hyd. roller. thanks |
I would believe the TFS 235's would highly outperform the L92's simply because you can put a ported FAST 92/92 combo that flow MUCH better than the L76 intake. |
I agree. But,the fast 100mm is out in a month or two for the l92's. That should put things closer. So far,and I could be wrong but it seems power is close in the same neighborhood. It does seem the better aftermarket heads produce more tq then the l92's seem to. If you can afford the 235's,I would get them over l92's. |
yea i hope the lsxr helps. i have the L92's but i keep thinking i should switch. |
I just bought 235s for my 416. If L92s flowed the same I'd be pissed after I spent $2500! |
my L92 flowed 351-226@.650 |
If you already have them, just stick with them. Easy. |
i would like to see 500+ rwhp. i'm at 475 with TH350. |

they may flow the same on paper, but the tfs have much smaller runners and valves, better exhaust port and hence, make a lot more tq and area under curve. no contest from my p o v. |
you can do a carb style efi intake on the l92s. |
what e.t. mph diff. do you guys think? going from the L92's to a 10.50@129 car. |
i'd like to see some dyno sheets after the LSXR comes out. |
:hijack: Sorry to hijack this thread and pretty much change the subject but I didn't feel like starting a new thread for this. Here is something that I want to hear some discussion on. It seems like there are alot of people out there now that seem to be capable of hitting 500rwhp out of a N/A 346 and it drives just fine. Yet there are people here building up 418 and 427's and they only hit 550rwhp what the hell is up with that? Why does it seem some people are spending alot of cash on a stroker build and it barely makes more hp then a 346? If I was spending all of that money on a stroker I would want it to well out perform the 346 I just ditched not by 50rwhp... Am I missing something is it very common for 427 to hit 650rwhp N/A because it doesn't seem like it... rant/question thanks for the help guys. |
50whp is a huge gain. You have to consider there is more than just peak numbers. A stroker is all about area under the curve with gains in the peak area. I'm working on a 416 build right now. Coming from a h/c 364. I'd be more than happy with 50+whp/tq going to the 416 if I can have the same street manners I had before. |
I agree with you 100% but even with that taken into consideration that still seem rather minimal to me... I guess a better translation would be this. 346 heads/cam, good traction and elevation 500rwhp car- ET = ? 402 Built stroker, same driver car and elevation as before 520rwhp- ET= ? 427 Built stroker, same driver car and elevation as before 550rwhp- ET= ? |

With a 346 buildup you typically see those numbers at peak. People go with strokers for more average hp and torque and especially more torque down low (where it counts.) Same horsepower numbers the stroker is going to walk over the H/C 346. Torque gets you there, hp keeps you there. |

THe L92/LS3 builds properly cammed make great low/mid numbers. Forget the small runner mantra. |
