Maybe more.
With less than $1000 I can make it run without the VVT.
I already bought a harness From Jared that cost me $875 But it doesnt run VVT so that was a waste unless I eliminate the VVT & AFM.
If I had plenty of money to buy the harness from Mastmotorsports I would but right now I its not plenty. lol

N0, there are MANY EMS that will run the VVT JUST FINE,
the Pantera EFI '882 has done this task many times.
The "pin lock" will stop the camshaft advance, locked in retard position with NO Power.
I like to remove the "pin" then set the stops (steel *****) on both sides of the vains.
The VVT "motor" can be limited in both advance/retard.
This is VERY easy, just open the rear AND take a peak.
The piston/valve problem is NOT a great issue with the correct WIDE L/C camshaft, I like a 118 center line with a "less then normal" Intake Lobe Duration.
Lance
The lifters in AFM engine are big and heavy, and if you have a cam thats over .500" lift the valves will still open even when deactivated. The aftermarket hasent overcome AFM as of yet.
