Prices go down? VVT cams arent much more expencive, if at all, than any other cam. I googled the part numbers and found the cam for $359, and Phaser limiter kit for $59 (ebay)

I found the place with the cam is a sponcer, so I can post a link....

Good luck with the sponcer....lol

In my set up I will need an aftermarket VVT controller, if you know what I mean. That alone is almost $2,000 with everything I need to make it run.
Maybe more.
With less than $1000 I can make it run without the VVT.
I already bought a harness From Jared that cost me $875 But it doesnt run VVT so that was a waste unless I eliminate the VVT & AFM.
If I had plenty of money to buy the harness from Mastmotorsports I would but right now I its not plenty. lol

Default Pantera EFI ECU-882C-1-H = VVT

Yes, I sell a "stand alone" VVT controller, under $200.00
(Not An Advertisement)
N0, there are MANY EMS that will run the VVT JUST FINE,
the Pantera EFI '882 has done this task many times.

The "pin lock" will stop the camshaft advance, locked in retard position with NO Power.

I like to remove the "pin" then set the stops (steel *****) on both sides of the vains.

The VVT "motor" can be limited in both advance/retard.
This is VERY easy, just open the rear AND take a peak.

The piston/valve problem is NOT a great issue with the correct WIDE L/C camshaft, I like a 118 center line with a "less then normal" Intake Lobe Duration.

If you have AFM you cant run a cam over .500" lift anyways. You have to get rid of the AFM if you want to run any kind of caftermarket camshaft.

The lifters in AFM engine are big and heavy, and if you have a cam thats over .500" lift the valves will still open even when deactivated. The aftermarket hasent overcome AFM as of yet.

Default Running a VVT?

Has anyone ran a VVT motor without hooking it up? I swaped a 5.3 for a 6.0 I didn't hook up the VVT wire (don't have it) and now I have no oil pressure. Is this possible or is there something else wrong? Brand new Gen 4 motor in a 2004 Z71.

Yes, youll make great bottom end torque and lose about 50-60hp above 5000 RPM.

If you dont hook up the VVT it defaults to the advanced postion, which explains great bottom end and no top end.
