i beleieve the LS2 to be a stronger platform since it seems to be the forced induction block of choice. But the ZR1 i believe is based on the LS3 platform!

true enough but the difference lies in the fact that both are strokers where as the stock ls3 is only a 6.2

true on being a 6.2 but in todays day and age it's not so much on displacement as it is on the abality to program these cars unlike years before. I see alot of 4cyl cars at our local track running in the 11's and alot of v8's running 13's! It's all a matter of cash to burn to get the hp wanted!

Alot of people don't give the ls6 respect and personally it's one of the best platforms in my opinion that GM has produced!

GM's view is that the LS3 block is more "durable" than the LS2 it replaced, with main webs 20% stronger. Dont know if that is just journalistic wording, but take a look here for the more verbatim version:

http://corvetteactioncenter.com/spec...ls3_page1.html

Side by side, the main webs etc have much more in common with an LS7 than an LS2.

I would bet i just done that way cause you could use some of the same tooling for the ls3 block as the ls7 block. help cut cost .

Alot of people have run the ls2 block hard with no issues in that area so id say it for marketing. alot of people in 1000hp range /few in the 1500hp cracked liners, lifted heads mains webs were fine

Wouldnt the ls2 be stronger since you have to resleeve it to make a 427?
