as far as take up the slack...im not so sure what you are exactly saying on that.
all of cloyes sets that are perf oriented are billet, the A stands for adjustable and the L series is for the IRL chain. so that means it uses the 9-3153 gear set, the set is also adjustable (hex adjust) and it uses the IRL chain. all of the chain series will use the same size billet sprocket afaik, but the different in the timing tabs and or bolts holes and length of the oil pump drive are the only differences between the sets. If you have the option, i would still use the timing chain tensioner. I know on most LS1/6 that is not an option, but everything else should really have it IMO.
setup. beening at my ls2 chain setup has WAY TO MUCH slack in the chain.
