Burning a lot of oil
Burning a lot of oil My L92 burns a lot of oil on start up and for a min but then stops. It is totally stock except for cam in sig. I did the cam swap and used a tea spring kit. I checked for oil in my tb and intake manifold and dont seem to have any there, but I am going to buy a catch can soon. I was kind of hoping this would be a pcv problem but not sure. I am currently using amsoil 5w30 oil. Any suggestions? Also I bought it used with around 2xxxx miles and I did not run the engine before the cam swap so I don't know if it smoked before or not.
Well the fact that it does it on startup and then goes away leads me to believe that it's valve guides. If you do not have oil in the intake and TB then there's a possibility that your PCV system is acting up and may be stuck shut leading to excessive crankcase pressures. Is the car seeping oil from any of the seals/gaskets? Oil pan, valve cover, rear main, front cover, etc? If you've got too much crankcase pressure due to a clogged PCV system oil vapors could be getting pushed up past the rings and getting burned that way but I doubt it.

So i just changed the oil about 400 miles after the cam swap and it doesnt smoke or burn oil at all anymore. Went from mobil 1 5-30 to amsoil 5-30, dont know if that made a difference or not...
