Oil Consumption LS2 427
Thx again

One question to all: how much smoking goes with this. My engine seems to have little or no smoke, even at WOT, despite consumption.
FWIW, my catch can setup is as follows:
Pass. cover: filter with chk valve (in-only)
Valley cover to can
can to TB vacuum port with PCV inline (which I now understand to be redundant)
3rd port on can with a chk valve (out only) to ensure case pressure is relieved. That fitting is totally dry.
My problem is recent and it began suddenly. I previously had a cracked oil pan and thought this had happened again, but that is clearly not the problem. Engine is a H&C build and I drive the car very hard (lots of revs like a road racer). Engine has 21K miles and was stock until 17K.
If not the catch can, then any ideas on what part failure would cause the consumption to abruptly increase?
In case it is material, the build is: 224/228 XER cam, patriot DG springs, ported 243 heads with stock valves, .040 cometics, and all the other tricks including a race ported oil pump.
This engine did not consume ANY oil prior to the cam.

Fascinating...there was another gentlemen who had the exact same situation as you. I.e. after a cam swap his oil consumption issue started. I PM'ed this gentleman to ask what the solution was, and his reply was that the car was totaled before the issue was ever identified/resolved!
The engine from my car is back at the company I ordered it from. I am hoping to soon know what the issue is.
