Default Worth getting 799 heads ported?

I am wondering if its worth getting my current heads ported, before the engine finally goes into the project car.

I see allot of talk of the increase in cfm over the stock head finish but what kind of difference might I see with my current setup vs what I might see with theheads ported?

Are there any shops out there who have good porting programs for the 799 heads, that use heads shipped by the customer?

TSP has an excellent 243/799 head program.
although a stock 243 or 799 is what most any street car will ever need.
typical stock use with correctly matched cam and valvetrain will support up to 500bhp on 346-375ci motor
if anything a 2.02 valve upgrade with backcut will be the best bang for the buck

Thanks, that is Texus Speed right?

The thing is that I am pretty sure the heads came from a truck rather than a car, they are 59cc chambers and the valves look like truck valves not LS2 valves, so I am wonderring if they will be a big limit on how the engine behaves... (they are definitely #799 heads.)

Just wanted to say as well that the car will be an M5, with a pretty long diff (3.08) but is going to be pretty light (about 2800lbs wet).

The engine is 416ci, which I have always meant to be v.mild initially.

Yes.

Several of the sponsors on here can cut your castings. Whether it is worth the labor & shipping cost is naturally your call. The 226cc port configuration we have had the most success with tends to gain 40-50hp on average over the as-cast 243's on a stock LS2 short block. That obviously assumes proper setup, adjustment, and tuning. As always, whether you are at the high end or the low end of the range will depend on a host of variables. Good luck with your project.

We can definately do some cnc porting on your 799 cores. I can also provide you with core exchange if you'd like! Give us a call if we can help in any way!!
