Car won't start !! ZERO CODES !! Video in..

Scanned for codes and it shows ZERO !! wtf :(.. If it was an ignition issue, wouldn't it at least throw a code? :(

I ran it a little hard last night but I don't know if that had anything to do with it, it's my car in the signature. All of the sudden it won't start now, not only that but it won't jump start either, so no spark?

Few details maybe you guys can direct me better :

No fuel problem as I can hear the pump kicking on when ignition is turned on. no battery problem. There's enough air going in, but I think it isn't sparking, correct me if you think I'm wrong after listening to the sound in the video.

Now to the Spark : I got MSD opti spark on it, and MSD ignition coil, spark plugs and wires are almost brand new so there's no problem there, but what else could cause it not to start and not even when trying to jump start it ?!

My shop is a half hour away so all my tools are down there, I thought to ask you guys, what's ur opinion?

Here's a short video of how it sounds : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijEi1cLnewk

Comments and suggestions are greately appreciated.

HMMMM, GOOD NEWS BUT I STILL SUSPECT SOMETHING.....

After scanning for codes, I checked the schrader valve for fuel, and sure enough there was fuel.
Next, checked for spark and here's what happened :

I pulled a spark plug with the wire on the driver side and asked the wife to crank it, it STARTED. But here's the thing :

I DID NOT try to start it after checking and having some fuel shot out of the schrader valve, so I don't know if that did something to make it start. However, it started while the spark plug was out and after doing these two checks together.

After that I cranked it few times and it started 3-4 times no problem , with the plug off and then with the plug and wire back on. (Right now I'm writing you guys but will go back to see if it starts again).

What "was" the problem and how come it started now after doing these two things? Trying to find if problem solved !!!

Thanks guys.

Adam

More details :

Now it starts once out of ten times that I tried, and when it starts the first time, the 2-3 times you try after that time it starts in all of them, but then again it goes back to not starting and no spark. Fucking opti isn't it ?

The last it started I kept it running for two minutes, as soon as I got in the car to drive it to my shop it started shutting of till it died, fucking opti or not?

Not sure exactly how your ignition works but it seems like it may not be firing the correct cylinders. On the LS based motors we get this type of problem when the cam position sensor is not connected or malfunctioning.

powerhousecamaro Jul 5, 2009 03:43 PM

Ok guys, here's what happened :

1- Replaced Computer. NO START.
2- Replaced Coil wire. NO START.
3- Replaced Ignition Module. NO START.
4- Replaced ignition Coil. NO START.
5- Checked the two ignition sensors in relay box. NO START.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS GOING ON GUYS, OPTI OR NOT OPTI?

Or the crank position sensor.

Hmm, good advice, I'll replace that as well and see what happens. Thanks for all your comments guys :(, I'm starting to get reall frustrated :(..

We've all had those times. Very clean looking car though!

Thanks for the compliment man, I took it out for the 4th of july weekend to cruise around a little and that's what I ended up with :(, A car that won't run, a HALF hour away from my shop where she stays most of her life, so everytime I get a new advice I have to drive an hour back and forth to come with parts to replace and see what happens.
I think tonight I'll call AAA to have a flat bid and tow it to my hospital, I'll be a lot smarter down there :(..
Thanks for your comments guys :(

you should not really try staring a car and pushing the throttle. very easy to flood the cylinders like that.

on a carbed car i could understand but not on a efi motor

Thanks for the advice, it's a bad rutine and I stopped doing it when you guys commented about it, thanks for letting me know, I never though it would flood the cylinders, good to know and thanks again brother.

Replaced opti, it's not it :(..
I'm not getting spark out of the ignition coil, problem seems to be happening before the coil :(..

This is incorrect. An EFI car will go into "clear flood" mode over a certain throttle % when you are cranking it over.

This is a time when you really need a Tech2/scanner. I would not own an LT1 without a good scanner. And i dont mean a code reader :)

Have you looked into the ignition relay?

The Dragon Jul 13, 2009 12:07 PM

Damn. I was gonna say Opti.

The opti on LT1's is freaking HORRIBLE!

I know m shop sees LOTS of spark/no fire issues on LT1's all the time.

I'll give them a ring and post suggestions if you haven't figured it out by tonight.

Just noticed where you are located LOL.

I grew up there :)

cherryelky305 Jul 13, 2009 01:46 PM

have you checked your grounds? its an intermittent electrical problem. To me that screams bad ground.

krill Jul 13, 2009 05:05 PM

Good call, sounds like bad ground somewhere.

chevynation Jul 18, 2009 11:34 PM

Dude I'm having the exact same problem with my LS1 right now. Checked grounds/connections, scanned pcm, replaced crank sensor, and it's still giving me shit. Gonna throw a new cam sensor in there next.

Good luck

Docrocket1967 Jul 20, 2009 07:36 PM

Man sounds like a tough one wish i could help

BlackWS6LS1 Jul 20, 2009 10:22 PM

Buddy had the same problem, ended up being the igintion relay on his LS1. Not sure if you have one in the LT1 but its easy to swap with a similar relay.
