Stock LS2 Connecting Rod strength
Can anyone give me any info on how much rwhp stock LS2 rods can take or are rated to? I've searched but haven't found much info. I know they are stronger than the stock LS1 rods, but wondered by how much. Thanks.

Who told you there was a strength difference? The difference is the old rods are pressed pin and the new rods are floating pin. Same powdered metal design and fractured cap technology.
From the GM Performace Parts catalog: The LS3 obviously makes some great horespower with mods. The rod bolts are the weak link.

The LS2 rod is stronger. They will bend and then break at roughly 950-1000hp. That is if you have good fuel and a good tune. I think Frank02l (I forget the screen name exactly) was running 5.7's in the 8th and he broke a couple sets running good fuel with a 47-88.
The older rods have a smaller cross sectional area and are not as strong. I agree that most failures people see are do to rod bolts though.

so, how much power and rpm can a stock LS1 rod hold??? How much for a stock LS2 rod. lets say both with ARP rod bolts. Im looking for repeated use numbers, not just "oh they can touch 7800 a couple times" Thanks in advance!!!
