2010 camaro cam install valvetrain carnage
I finished up a 2010 camaro cam/spring/pushrod install. Upon startup it ran/idled great, but almost immediately broke a stock rocker trunion. We sent them off to harland sharp and had their fulcrums put in. The guy who owns the car had his buddy help, and he/they bolted a few of them on 'upside down'...with respect to the shaft. Its machined on one side for the bolt to sit down in more, for additional clearance. Well it appeared a few of the bolts hit the side of the rocker, because we broke about 4 or 5 intake rockers off, snapped the bolts. We got all that straightened out, and went on about tuning. It ran pretty nicely. Last night, it happened again....only this time 2 of the rockers themselves were broken, one about dropped a valve (it may have bent it) as it acted like a spring compressor, and 2 more broken off on that side.
The cam is not all that large, its a 227 ish intake duration on a 110 centerline...should have plenty of p2v on intake. I did not degree it, however. Gonna go back through it all...anyone have any comments, other than you should always always check even when you've done dozens of cam/head installs and never had a problem
