Default Is the LS2 cam different than an LS1 cam?

Since I have a 402 stroker LS2 short block in my car, do I have to be specific about the type of cam I buy for this LS2 short block? I recall that I had to install the conversion harness and there is a connector in the front cover. What is that all about?

Default

That's the cam sensor (relocated to the front of the block). You can use the older 3 bolt cams, but you'll need an LS2-specific timing gear set to send the cam signal.
