Callies LSc Stroker Crank ?
Anybody used or heard of these / any sponsor carrying them?
These LSc CompStar 5140 Forged Crankshafts by Callies are specically designed for moderate (575 HP & 600 ft lb torque) applications. Designed to withstand the rigors of light-duty truck applications, C-Series components are also excellent in moderate performance installations. All GM Gen III engines ranging from the 5.3L truck block to the 6.2L L92/LS3 are perfect candidates.
Just thought maybe this would be decent for a budget 408 build...

Got one in the LS3 427 sitting in my barn right now thats waiting on completion. I've read of many people using them and from what I've seen a lot of the sponsors carry callies cranks and rods.

I was just kinda curious because this crank is a hair over 500 and the actual compstar is around 900... I know they make good products. Just kinda wondering if it will work for me. I was just under the impression that they were just released recently in the last few weeks.

Most aftermarket cranks are overkill for 90% of the street cars being built. It all comes down to application and true intended use of the car. We would use the C series and then compstar or go to a Dragonslayer or Magnum XL depending on what you were really going to do with it.

I think they are underated. I figure if a stock crank can hold up to 700 rwhp on many turbo applications. This would handle at least that or more. I have one of these going into a 418 ls3 with spray.

I wouldn't loose sleep over it
Compstar also sell LSc I beam connecting rods,
I like these for stock rebuilds. 6 1/8 on center rods, bushed small end.
some of the lesser expensive I beams arn't bushed (ie scat)
The LSc parts original intent was to 're-power' GM full size trucks,
where they may see a overhaul at 150k miles, give them a torque increase.
Every year at PRI i've always asked Eagle and Scat if they would make 5140
parts for LS engines, had no intrest in doing so, glad Callies did so.

I agree, it's good to see more affordable parts like this. 1500hp capable 4340 cranks seem to be overkill for a 500hp 408ci street engine. Businesses could also probably get back customers who may have been excluded due to the economic environment we're in now.
