Default NEED HELP FAST!!! Buying ls7 NEWBIE

I am interested in purchasing an engine which supposedly has an LS7 block and LS6 components (heads, intake, etc).

Is it possible to have performance LS6 components on an LS7 block? These performance components include Stage III patriot heads and cam. Would an LS1/LS6 intake fit an LS7 block? What about a FAST 92/92 Intake/throttle body?

If i was to confirm an engine block is LS7 where and what would i look for (casting numbers, location of identifying features, etc...).

I Need this help ASAP
I dont want to get ripped off

slow down! Lots of engine options out there, don't rush into buying someone else's problem. Have you seen this engine run? Do you know the seller? Do you know the builder? If possible, try to have someone you trust take a good look at the motor, pull the pan and check the bearings.

From a technical standpoint, yes, you can put LS6 parts on a LS7 block. Question is why? PP stage 3 isn't that great, a real 427 would like better heads.

I've got experience with this - someone (not from this forum) tried to sell me a motor that had been blown and had rewelded the block. Also had a single sleeve installed by a guy who had done lots of chevys, but never a LS1 before. For the price he wanted, there was too much risk of dropping a sleeve, or finding some other problem, so I walked away. Sometimes the best deal is the one you don't do.

The engine does start right away and it sounds good. He is also providing dyno sheets and build receipts. He informed me that his friend built the engine for him (works at a performance shop - He sold the car to him). The engine currently puts out more than 600hp.

My main concern is that i need to be sure that it is an LS7 block. The engine is currently in a camaro that was involved in an accident. The car was hit from behind and the damage did not extend to the front part of the vehicle. I want to swap this engine into my 2001 Z28 camaro.

I decided not to buy the engine after all. I also thought that the deal was too good to be true. Thanks for the help.
