lq4 questions....
Ok guys i tore down the my lq4 for my nova tonight it is a 31k jy engine, i gotta say the lower end looked mint! i pulled a cap off one of the rods just to check the bearings and they looked like new...so now the 1st question is what do i retorque it to? question 2...is the stock oil pump good enough for my build ( carb,ls3 heads 550-560 fwhp)??
by the way 1st time i've torn down a ls engine....vert impressed lots of improvments over a sbc thats for sure! lol

They are torque to yield bolts so they are no longer usable.
You will get the "Put in ARP's" any second. If you are not building a race engine or turning 7,000 rpms stock is ok. Here is a link some good bolts from SPS Technologies inc. that are 12.9 hardness rated.

Here is a good GM pump.

• High volume pump assembly for LS Series engines
(except LS7 and LS9 applications)
• Pump pick-up seal included
You will get the "Put in ARP's" any second. If you are not building a race engine or turning 7,000 rpms stock is ok. Here is a link some good bolts from SPS Technologies inc. that are 12.9 hardness rated.

ok ...now i'm gonna sound dum.....but how do you torque to yield?? all engines i've put together in the past have been sbc/sbf...all with regular torque ratings.....
really think it neccessary to replace the rod bolt just because i pulled one cap?? i will if i have too but...ya know i'm on a budget! lol

If you remove the ballancer bolt go ahead and replace it also. You can get an ARP one and reuse it as much as you want but the stock ones are torque to yield and 1 use only. Head bolts are the same.
