Engine blueprint report is another term for documentation. Complation of specifications.

We measure the cylinder block deck height, the block main journal diameter, centerlines of the main jounral and camshaft jounral. Cylinder bore size, ring end gaps, piston pin clearance, piston to wall clearance and bearing clerances are also documented. Amongst others.

You can take those numbers and make a technical diagram of the engine block, a blueprint.

So later on you want to order pistons, based on the documentation you have you can order a piston with the correct compression height.

Is it needed? the engine doesn't run any better if you're blueprining scrap, if the enigne is machined to the proper blueprint specifications you should find more power and longer service life out of the combination.

I know a guy in NMCA that went 300 passes on his engine running 26psi boost, I know a guy with a 410ci sprintcar who went 2 years on the same engine.

hope this helps?

In addition, it gives the builder a full set of specs for his records. When the engine comes back for a freshening, etc., he'll have all the original specs so he can see if any clearances are changing, etc.

Since I am having my motor built from a shop that is out of town, I would really need the info for my records in the even of any freshening up, good point.
