how far down mill 243's

i have a couple of ported 243's laying around..

i wanted to know how far down can i mill to get to 58-59 CC, w/out having PVC problems , or having problems with the intake.

my cam has a .581 lift on a 112lsa, that's the highest lift im going with.

lift isn't the issue, PTVC issues are mainly with opening of the intake valve.
If you have a early opening intake or late closing exhaust, associated with overlap, thats where you find issues.

with 59cc 243 heads largest cam i've seen run is speed inc. SI5v2 231/237

I am wondering this to. Except everyone I have talked to has said that if you mill them you have to keep you duration 230 or below for got ptv. Hope someone can shine a little light on this. Thanks

I was wondering this too....is the patriot 243 the way to go for a higher cr with 243 heads and a larger cam?

i would like to know also. i have a set of stock 243's i want to mill (along with other things). my cam is 224/224 .581/.581 so i don't think i'll clearance issues. i just want a good CR to run on 93 octane. i was thinking .030-.035?

any problems with the intake fitment ?

If the heads have stock valves in them you should be have enough room with a 59cc chamber and the 228R. I always recommend checking though, especially on a setup like this where the heads have been milled a decent amount.

i have a set on my 5.3 shaved them 0.030 and have a 0.040 head gasket with a 224/228 .581/.588 and have no clearance issues... course i know 5.3's pistons are dished and ls1's are flat. hope this helps

I run 243's that have been milled .020" (62cc) with a .051" GM MLS gasket. With a 224 intake lobe I only have .068" piston to valve clearance. Check it your self, don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I ran the GM cnc 243's that were milled .060 with stock MLS head gaskets. The pistons were flat tops and a MS3 cam. I had plenty of clearence.

my exact thoughts too...bullshit...

someone needs to learn how to measure...plenty of clearance too, not even tight...

measure yourself guys with a SOLID roller...

some measurements I have taken

stock 241 heads unmilled, stock mls gasket 230/230 111+2

intake .086 exhaust ~.120

TFS 215 57.5cc chambers, .040 gasket, 239/243 110+3

intake -.020 exhaust .040
