Default Change of plans: Cam and piston choice questions.

I have a whole l92 motor and the plan was to stroke it to 418 but plans have changed and don't want to spend the money on the stroker kit because I have plans on going 427 lsx with twin turbo later on, but we all know there are alot of bugs to work out when you go turbo. I just want to get my car running for right now.

Here are my questions, I have spoken with Geoff@EPS awhile back and he recommended me to go with his second to smallest rectangular port cam which specs out at 230/246 600/607 on a 113. I have the cam that came out of my ls1 which is 230/240 607/612 on a 111. I could use the one I have and save even more money but will I be leaving something on the table with the EPS cam being newer on EPS lobes?

The second question is I am wanting to spray the motor and I want a little extra insurance in my pistons, so I was thinking about ordering a set of Wiseco's for it. I was looking at thse pistons and wondering are these the correct ones I am looking at part number wise K398x7. They are for a 4.070 bore and a 3.622 stroke and for a 6.098 or 6.125 rod.

since you looking to save money, use your old cam. The pistons aren't really that weak, save your money for head porting. Get some great porting on the heads that compliment your 230/240 cam. Spray a reasonable setup, 150 wet shot on a progressive ramp up system and run low-mid 10s on a budget.

Yes those are the right ones but they have .927 pins so you would need the same on your rods. We fix about 2 L92s a month that have broken pistons from Blowers or NOS so it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I agree with Geoff on his specs but yes your cam would be decent as well but you need good springs.

Thanks for the heads up on the pistons. I will be ordering them shortly and I think I am going to use EPS' cam since it is designed for rectangular port heads and its not that much for the cam.

I race for money and bragging rights Craig Hence the stupid crazy build for the next setup. In our world there is no reasonable shot of spray, just make sure the tune is right. Mid 10's don't cut it no more, stock block h/c/i are doing that.
