You should really look into CP Pistons. They are top notch and are the best your going to get. They make a great product.

As for the coating. It wouldn't hurt. I would do the top and skirts.

My car has wiseco's can't go wrong with spending the extra buck for a name band piston and a quality product.

I would say CP is a name brand. They are basically at the top when it comes to pistons. They have just been a lot of money since they really didn't make a shelf item.

In the past year they have really been looking at the LS market and are going to be doing big things to bring cost down. They will be stocking basic set's along with rods that will be great for drop in type set ups.

Talk to Fraser, I'm sure he take care of you on a set.

We run a ton of Wiseco pistons in our motors. Very high quality piston that can take a beating as far as power goes. All sets now come with a GFX stainless steel top ringset as well.

I got wiseco in my 402. When I researched before buying they seem to be top of the line

Easy choice is Wiseco and or Diamond. I would run the heavier wall pins if it's an extreme power adder deal. Just depends on how much dish you need or want as to what to go with. Also depends on which heads you have but Wisecos are a uni-fit valve relief design which fit a ton of heads.

CP makes great stuff as well but just hasn't had the shelf LSx part numbers to do battle with Wiseco or Diamond so far. They make good parts though and are great to work with but have also been quite a bit more money in the past.

Erik

I agree with you on that. They are working on a whole new piston line and will have a lot of option stocked with in the next few months.

I do feel they are just about the best piston you can get. 90% of the N/A Pro Stock word uses their pistons and rods.

Thanks

I know when Wiseco was in PS they ran as good or better than anyone. Same with Diamond as both were the pistons used by the teams that won the NHRA PS championships for some time. Saying all that none of the pistons we are using are related to those or NASCAR either for that matter and Wiseco dwarfs what everyone else has for LSx shelf pistons right now considering their uni-fit pockets and Diamond is a close second.

I hope CP does end up a player though in the LSX arena and has a lot more models than what I see as they don't appear to have but one or two pistons we could even use right now. No LS3 stuff is one big problem already and the Wisecos have every single feature these CPs do plus coated skirts as well right now and a little higher end NPR 1.2, 1.2, 3.0 Napier ring set but maybe these CP Bullet deals will be cheaper?

I guess we will know soon. Can you purchase these CP Bullets yet?

Hmmm, the CP bullet forging design looks awfully familiar. Wonder where they got that from? At least they "tried" to copy the best.

Default pistons

well guys, so far ive picked up a callies dragonslayer 4.0 crank, and compstar i-beam rods, just trying to figure out the piston thing. and if it helps im leaning towards tfs 225 or 235 cnc heads. also looking for ideas on ideal comp ratio. i figure try to stay in the 9.0-9.5 area??? plan on running 10-15lbs boost on street, maybe more at the track with an 80-90mm turbo. that hasnt been picked yet either

I would guess the cam profile of the CP pistons would be close to the others as well or will it be Far off. Has anybody seen the specs yet. We know what we got now works, tired and true. Although these motors have been out for so long now i would assume they have it down.

in my opinion, i would say that you cannot go wrong choosing a piston to make some HP with.... wiseco, diamond, je , cp , mahle,ect... they are all good companies, and have been around for a while . id prolly go with some wiseco's myself

I'd go with Wiseco, in all my build experiences, I've had no problems with them at all. You couldn't go wrong with Diamond, Mahle, JE, and CP also.

I have Diamond Pistons in my stroker.

Valve reliefs for L92 and I have the skirts and tops coated.

Calico Coating did the coating work.

Very nice pieces.
